This is a book I felt like re-reading as soon as I’d finished; one that I can see myself reading again and delighting in each time.
This book was wacky as hell; I loved it! The pace picks you up and carries you off and you become lost in the events. His novels have been translated into twelve languages; five of them SenselessnessThe She-Devil in the mirrorDance with SnakesRevulsionand Tyrant memory are available in English. This was funny and truly bizarre.
I didn’t find it as funny as others seemed to find it, but was certainly entranced by the writing. Now the yellow Chevrolet is his, and he finds that it’s also the home of four venomous snakes. I believe he is excellent when it comes to weird, violent stories like ‘El Asco’, but less so and dastellanos to silliness when it comes to political commentary.
The problem, I believe, is that he only pays leap service to the political violence in El Salvador.
